The Australian government is under pressure to unveil its contingency plan for children likely to be left in the lurch by ABC Learning - including three centres in the Parramatta area.

Yesterday receiver Chris Honey of McGrathNicol announced most of the troubled ABC centres would remain open after December 31, to trade under a sustainable business model.

Included in the 'saved'centres are Bankstown,Fairfield Heights, Merrylands central and north, North Strathfield, Pendle Hill, Prairiewood, Toongabbie West and Wentworthville.

However the future of the centres at North Parramatta, Rosehill and Toongabbie remains uncertain.

Today Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said the government needed to provide answers for anxious mums and dads, many who need to know what options they have when they go back to work after Christmas.

StreetCorner contacted federal Member for Parramatta for comment but she is overseas. In parliament Education Minister Jukia Gillard said she was pleased the receiver has been able to provide certainty for so many parents.

So what happened to the 22 Million that ABC got? Where did it go? If ABC got the cash injection as a whole (organisation), why are some centres still "under review" for their viability? The ENTIRE CHILDCARE INDUSTRY is laying wounded in the gutter whilst the federal government determines who does and doesnt get assistance? Well folks, whilst the rest of the industry dies...maybe Julia Gillard can come down and speak to the families of those children who DONT qualify for their "assistance" ?
