Moorebank Intermodal Terminal
The Federal Government has propose the establishment of an Intermodal Terminal in Moorebank within 4klms of Liverpool CBD. The terminal location is alongside the Georges river upstream of the Liverpool Wier. The previous establishment of ten schools within a 3000m radius of the site concerns locals as does the close proximity of Wattle Grove Defence Integration Project ( 7000 Population) and Casula suburb ( 10,000 population). In the course of investigations the community has become aware of the Sydney Freight Plan and is alarmed at the lack of consideration for Casula Residents whom are affected so badly by the proposed southern Sydney Heavy Freight Rail line. The Expansion of Port Botany is a decision with serious ramifications for so many , yet has not recieved enough media attention. The Governments must recognise the existence of residential areas and accomodate the amenity of same into planning and execution of the projects or face eternal protests and community discord.

The council and the authorities like artc and the consortium for the intermodal are relying on the lack of interest shown from residents to push through their projects. It is about time for residents who are vitally effected by these projects to stand up and insist on more discussions on these projects to ensure their quality of life and maintain their property values. The residents of Liverpool council have been pushed from pillar to post without having regard for their future welfare John lag

The Governments intermodal Proposal is not mentioned much on the web but a lot appears about the other site . There is still a lack of information available to the community, and the vast majority do not know anything about the projects because the Governments have kept a squeeze on notifications. The chatter on the net by the NSW Port Authority and trade publications confuses two proposals. One a 200ha Government site on the riverbank and a proposed supporting facility on a much smaller site.

Question; Where do the State Government's Macquarie Street power brokers dump their rubbish? Answer; Sydney's South Western Suburbs. Someone should tell these boys that Sydney's Liverpool and Campbelltown also have a Macquarie Street...perhaps they can get off their tax paid leather sofa's and pay us a visit.

Thankyou Mr Ned you sum up well the problem, but the Port Botany Expansion will increase trucks moving from the waterfront and these will mix with the increased trucks coming from the gigantic inland terminal proposed for location on Moorebank Defence area. The rail movement out will only lead to more cross city travel by heavy vehicles. The environment of south western Sydney is badly affected for no real gain in efficiency. The containers only need one delivery, two just costs extra money.

It was good to see the publicity given to this subject in the Liverpool champion maybe Residents might start asking the politicians why are the Governments making the area a dumping ground for all environmental disasters for Sydney.Because the area has being a strong labor area they have totally neglected the people of this area.Enough is enough the residents should insist the politicians are more accountible for their actions and start making the area a more vibrant and better planned society.

Yes John the plan is to dump the freight problems from the city into the laps of the struggling battlers of the southwest. Thus far, few have twigged what is going on and the issue is so large that major conservation and environmental groups should be agitating. However so many problems beset our society, this is another of those. Population expansion in regional areas with port facilities developed by the Federal Infrastructure fund appears the only rational answer. Will that be considered?

Looks like our Council Rates pay for such good rubbish collection that everyone wants to get into the act. Hope they let us know if we need recyle bins or whatever they use for the new Hazardous Waste dump we'll probably get soon.OWN SOME PRIDE PEOPLE FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!!!!!

I found this petition against the Moorebank Terminal so if people sign the petition I guess it will show a unified voice against the development to governments. http://www.gopetition.com.au/petitions/n...

Roy I signed unfortunately the first. Please inform all the blogs.I agree with you. We do not need a stenchy intermodal. The area would be better suited for industrial or as previously considered Technology Park,an extension of the University of Western Sydney. There are more appropriate areas further west for an intermodal. Not in mid suburbia that is ridiculous. When is this government going to become transparent.Even ARTC stated to Casula residents that they have to REMODEL everything if the

intermodal was going ahead. Enough of the secrecy. Is the ARTC remodelling? If so then why are we fighting for noise barriers it should be already placed into the equation. But what is expected they cant even provide a simple noise report. So secretive. Is the intermodal going ahead. Are ARTC remodelling. Enough is enough.Sack the whole government. They stink far worse than any intermodal.
