Islamic School's proposals under radar

There seems to be a large amount of activity on the Islamic School proposal front at the moment. You may not agree, but I have observed a real lack of consultation with the public on this issue. It seems that everything that goes through council these days is heavily exposed to public consultation. However, Islamic School proposals seem to fly under the radar, until suddenly someone out there catches on and alerts everyone else.

There seems to be a number of cases now, where land is bought by a third party for an entirely different reason and then suddenly an DA is put through to council for the development of an Islamic School.

I really don't care who builds schools and what type of schools they turn out to be - but I can really see hidden agendas and a focus on keeping everything hush hush.

These things need to be out in the open from day one...but you may disagree...

I agree with his sentiments which was evidenced when the residents notified about this proposal were very limited and other residents had to rely on information supplied from fellow residents.I challenge the people in council to witness firsthand the narrow streets of manila rd etc which will be vital streets that people from this school would have to navigate. It is too late when one of the residents of the area is knocked down or injured.the developement is pure lunacy john anderson 98258709

I agree with the fact that everything was hush hush.we found out through a neighbour that they were planning to widen our road on Pacific Palms & make it serviceable for a 4 lane road way and this means that we will lose the only piece of frontage we have & our car will be half on our driveway & the other half on the road. Besides that we need another School here like a hole in the head.Traffic is bad now in School hrs if we get another School we will never get out of our drive way. It's crazy

Does anyone in the Liverpool area expect to be treated in any other way by Council?? This whole school proposal is so obviously suspicious and stories were flying around prior to the Council elections. Residents are only acknowledged when council rates are due but are not recognised any other time. If you know Hoxton Park you know that this proposal just DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. We live in a small suburb.

The residents of Hoxton Park are not opposing the Islamic School at Hoxton Park. We are opposing ANOTHER SCHOOL being built because our tiny streets cannot cope, with traffic using the only 2 roads to get in and out of the area, now and more would be impossible. Parents dropping off and picking up their kids from existing schools here should tell of their experience. I'm sure they've got plenty

I have two young children attending ABC childcare at Hoxton Park 3 days a week. A normal day not in peak hour I can drop of in 3 minutes. In current "school peak hour" it takes 20 minutes. With added pressure of another 800 deliveries to a new school I'll have to actually leave home an hour before to get to my destination on time. How stupid. What I don't understand is that the attendees of the new school will also endure the traffic gridlock, why would they want to do that ?

look its a joke if the council dont see the common sense in our concerns as the residents of hoxton park. We have 4 schools in the area as it is, and the streets can't cater for the traffic that exits already so how can they justify putting another school in our area for 800 kids. I honestly think there is something fishy about this council, there always has been, what with the orange grove debacle and so on....this consortium paid 2 million dollars more for the agreed value of the block? hmmmmm

The frustration of trying to get IN or OUT of our residence for three hours each school day (mornings and afternoons) is going to become unbearable. There is NO street in the area wide enough to cope now. In 13 years so many mistakes have been made by our council.

I am a resident at tamworth cres and i think that our area cant cope with another school in the area, it already takes us aprrox 10 mins just to onto hoxton park road daily we dont need that extended, and neither do we need the noise levels of recess and lunch breaks to increase we already get enough from hoxton park primary kids, this proposal should be looked at from resident prespective and see what we'd have to go through in our daily duties and being apart of the hoxton park community thank

Info published in local papers states students who travel to the "sister school" at Greenacre travel from up to 20kms away and the same may happen if this school is built in our area. Does the council expect us to put up with this extra traffic? It will bring too many extra cars to the area. Council need to remember that these people DO NOT vote for them or pay the land rates here.

Adam Kwanak posts

That is exactly right - most of the parents of these students would not be voters of Liverpool Council nor would they pay rates to them.

I live in the Georges Hall area and we have had an Islamic School rejected twice by Council. Now the fight starts in the Land and Environment court. We will never let this school to be built because it will have a negative impact on our beautiful area in more ways than one. To allow you to fully understand the deciet of the schools owners the following is an excerpt of Fred Niles parliamentary address PROOF THAT THE NSW GOVT ARE RUNNING SCARED AND HAVE NO ANSWERS : During question time in State Parliament, the Rev Fred Nile has raised concern about the apparent deception of the Al Amanah Islamic College in procuring land at Bass Hill to build an Islamic School. Rev Hon. Fred Nile: I ask the Minister for Lands a question without notice. a.. Is it a fact that a corporate body called Garden View Apartments deceitfully purchased former sports fields of Bass Hill High School for $4.45 million with the definite intention to develop the land for residential housing? b.. Is it a fact that the major shareholder in Garden View Apartments, Al Amanah College, then sought to use the land for a new exclusive 1,200-pupil Islamic school? c.. Is it a fact that Bankstown council has twice unanimously rejected the Al Amanah Islamic College building application but that the college has indicated that it will now fight a protracted and expensive legal battle? d.. Is it a fact that the spokesman for the Islamic Friendship Association, Keysar Trad, has also said this divisive school should not go ahead because of the way the college went about purchasing the land? e.. Will the Government intervene in this serious matter to implement government policy that a non-government school cannot be built next to an existing government school? Hon. Tony Kelly: I thank Reverend the Hon. Fred Nile for his question and undertake to get him an answer as soon as I can. Mr Kelly answered that Gardenview apartments never owned the land ?

The way of life here has changed so much that it stinks. It's obvious that it's not what you know it's who you know.

WHO you are means more than what's right nowadays. Tough luck to your average smuck out there. Did we all suffer that heat on local election day for nothing? Not happy!

Roni, you are right on the mark with that info. That is why I said that everything is under the radar and it's very cunning.

I was at the meeting last night and I have to say that I left there feeling alot better about our concerns.Clr Napoletano made some very good points and before any firm decision is made they want to make sure i's are dotted and t's are crossed.Clr Hadchiti was great. He did his homework and was thorough.Lucas & Harle were real too.Fingers crossed Austral and Hoxton Park.Write to Councillors people. Most are HUMAN!!!!
