Change in Liverpool council needed in upcoming elections

Residents in Liverpool council go to the polls on the 8th September 2012 and must make a choice whom will represent you in the the next 4 years.I have been fighting the Moorebank Intermodals for the last 4 years and have dedicated myself to the cause mainly because of the impact on our youth,sick and environment.The parties behind the Intermodals are hiding the real impact and are currently trying to have one on one briefings to confuse the issues.They are not prtepared to have open meetings as they will be embarassed.As well as the Intermodal I have a number of issues I want to address such as Health and safety and more accountability by council for the residents.I have been involved oin a number of controversial issues in the past and have always believed their should be more balance in matters in the area.I will if eolected dedicate myself to the task and will work fervishly for the general good of the community.I have been involved in council affairs for the Last 8 years and will take little time in adjusting to the role of councillor as I have had contact with council managers over a long period of time.I wish the best 11 candidates be elected to the council as the area has been harmed by politics for too long.I support Gary Lucas for mayor as he is the most experienced councillor in the present council and I have worked with him for many years in the L9iverpool action group of which I am president John Anderson indepebdent candidate south ward Liverpool council elections 8th September 2012

It is interesting to see in the Daily telegraph in todays paper the 20th August.2012 talk about a new highway from the south west to the North west which would probably be connected to the plans for the Moorebank Intermodals.It also mentions a decision by Infrastructure NSW to annouce next month after the council elections a choice of the M4 east or M5 east but it is expected to be the M5 east which couldnt be announced before the current elections not to embarass their party but this is politics NSW.When is any government going to work in the interests of the Local residents without hiding their true agenda John Anderson independent candidate south ward Liverpool council elections 8/9/2012 0409368603

Who would you give $100,000 to for a four year term as councillor or over $400,000 for the Mayoral term? That's the measly monetary return for a councillor, the Mayor gets a decidedly better deal to represent Liverpool Council and the ratepayers. It's a wonder only six candidates nominated for Mayor. You might start to think no one's in it for the money, that may be right in some instances for Mayor and certainly true for councillors. Those councillors lucky enough to be elected do so in full knowledge you can please some of the ratepayers some of the time but certainly not ALL of the ratepayers ALL of the time. You have to have a pretty thick hide and not take the criticism directed at you as councillor personally. I’d give my money for Mayor to Jim McGoldrick, a hard working councillor who has gone out of his way and spent his own money to host community Anti Intermodal protests where other councillors had gone missing in action.

As we approach the local council elections our community needs to have a hard look at who they should vote for. We need to remember that neither of the two major parties have done much to support our community in its fight to stop the Intermodals. In my opinion the Labor people have done absolutely nothing at all with the Liberals being involved till the last State Election and then disappearing up till recently when they reappeared just in time for forthcoming elections. We need to also take into consideration who has in fact been with us from the start which isn’t really difficult to work out as it’s been the Independents. In my opinion the only issue in voting Independent is making sure that the candidate you vote for doesn’t give his preferences to another candidate or party. The exception would be if the preference was to go to a genuine Independent. The last thing we need to do is vote for a candidate to find that the votes he received are passed onto another a candidate or party that you set out to not vote for. Please think hard and long before you pick up the pen on the 8th September.

For a valid vote you only need to number 3 candidates (1,2,3) BELOW the line or UNGROUPED. Don't take the easy option of putting a 1 abve the line, that will only vote for the first three below the line in that group anyway. Think hard, what does party politics have to do with local government responsibilities of local roads, rates and rubbish!

During the last 2 days there has been pre polling at Liverpool at 296 Macquarie St and Marella Harris and me are helping each other.I got my signs today and hope to put them up at highly visible areas.I will repeat my committment to the fight also it was suggested to me maybe the unions might put a green ban on the developement.I am sure their families are at risk as well as ours we must try every avenue John Anderson Independent candidate south ward Liverpool council elections 8/9/12 0409368603
