the battle for bronte's future as a peaceful seaside suburb is about to begin. a huge overdevelopment is being proposed for the bronte rsl site in macpherson st bronte. the bronte rsl has closed, presumably because they are broke. as usual a developer is proposing a massive development for his short term financial gain which will cause the local community long term pain. he proposes a huge high rise with supermarket and apartments on the site. this will have huge adverse implications for our suburb. overshadowing of nearby houses, an eyesore on our horizon, traffic chaos, truck noise, parking problems in surrounding streets at all times of the year, loss of views and safety issues for the many children at the clovelly public school. check out the enormous cronulla sharks club redevelopment for a taste of this developer's style. well, i have had enough of developers breezing into a suburb where they don't live and destroying the place. it is time for the community to fight back. it is time for developers to abide by the local environment plans and development rules like the rest of us. there should be no special treatment for this development. the building should comply with the LEP - full stop no discussion. the DA should be put to waverley council for a local decision. let's limit this sort of development to bondi junction which is the designated high rise shopping location in our area. stay tuned for updates and watch your letter boxes for further information about #battle4bronte
