Screening and Q&A with filmmakers: Kate McIntyre Clere, Michael McIntyre and celebrated local yoga teacher and Yogawoman cast member Nadine Richardson.

The award-winning documentary Yogawoman will have an exclusive limited season at the Ritz Cinema in Sydney from Thursday 9 August. The season will premiere with a special screening and Q&A on Wednesday 8 August at 6:45 pm.

Directed by Kate McIntyre Clere and narrated by Oscar nominee Annette Bening. Yogawoman investigates the phenomenon of Yoga, an ancient practice designed for men only and how it has become an international multi-billion dollar industry that is radically changing women’s lives.

Filmed in 9 countries featuring 50 women of all shapes and sizes, Yogawoman is a radical and endearing film that gets into the hearts and bodies of empowered women across the globe.

From the busy streets of Manhattan to the dusty slums of Kenya, from the golden beaches of Australia to the serene piazzas of Italy, Yogawoman uncovers a global phenomenon that has changed the face of yoga forever.

Yogawoman’s local release follows a series of festival screenings including the San Francisco Documentary Film Festival and the Maui Film Festival and has been the winner of six international film awards. Yogawoman has also enjoyed sell out screenings in New Zealand and Australia and is having a Japanese release next month. Yogawoman opens at the prestigious Angelika Film Centre in New York City in October 2012, followed by a North American release.

Tickets for the Q&A are: $13 adult; $11 concession; $10 child 3-15 years; $8 seniors and can be purchased through www.ritzcinema.com.au.
