Award winning film maker Ruth Hessey will speak Sunday 8th July 7pm at the Chapel by the Sea.

Ruth recently wrote and directed the documentary film ”Waste Not”, which won Best Documentary Film at St Kilda Film Festival in 2011. ”Waste Not” has also been acquired by Qantas for both domestic and international in-flight entertainment, and has been accepted into dozens of film festivals all over the world.

Before joining the Total Environment Centre three years ago, Ruth was best known as a feature writer and film reviewer for the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, ABC Radio, Time Out Sydney, and countless other glossies.

With a BA majoring in film and theatre from UNSW, and twenty years as a journalist in radio, TV, and print was followed by 2 years teaching film and making docos at Rooty Hill High School, and two year as a history guide at the Museum of Sydney.

Ruth also worked with Goalpost Pictures on a television series, and currently has several screen projects in development.
