Mayor of Sydney 1869 – 1870 was Alderman Walter Renny

Walter Renny, painter and decorator, was proprietor of the Royal Blue House

Renny is renowned for his transparencies in all Government Buildings in Sydney painted between 1863 to 1868.

There is a water fountain memorial to the former Mayor built in 1870.

It’s in a shocking state of disrepair.

The memorial is located on the corner of Anzac Parade and Cleveland Street, Surry Hills 2010
