John Anderson wattle grove seeking community support to stand for Liverpool council
As many readers of this site know I have been devoting numerous hours fighting these Intermodals and I have decided depending of attaining community support I will stand for Liverpool council on the 8th Sepember 2012.I am putting in this story to gaUGE COMMUNITY SUPPORT TO SEE IF i WILL GET THE SUPPORT OF RESIDENTS TO HELP ME IN THIS QUEST.Last council elections I missed out by 300 votes and provided I run a better campaign I am confident I can gey enough community support.I have worked in the Liverpool council for the last 8 years and have fought many battles as my theory is to bring more rights to residents in the area.I am currently the president of the Liverpool action group and believe I can get into council to protect our residents especially the children from being subjected to what they propse to foist on us by these Intermodal container terminals John Anderson wattle grove.0409368603

Good luck John, as an independent you'll have no party line to toe, other then the ones you set for yourself, in support of the community you wish to represent. I hope a number of independents like you, Jim McGoldrick and Peter Harle and others get up, the ones that put Liverpool and its community first and foremost!

Excuse us Ray! But we're another group just like yours. But for the purpose of saving on repetitive blogs, we just used one entry this time. It saves on laborious typing. Furthermore, you're another guy who wont get anybody's vote. LOL!

I second that Tim. This "Ray" character sounds like a real gallah!

Ray has spent a extraordinary amount of time to protect our community and he is a person of much knowledge and done enormous amount of research into the flaws of the Intermodals that are unprofitable.Business will not invest in Intermodals that will not offer them a return.I have worked for sydney ports and worked at Port Botany and saw the introduction of containers inro Sydney.Liverpool one of the most congested areas in the state can not survive this great invasion to our comunity. The risk of health issues by diesel emissions the traffic gridlock the lowering of living standards for residents especially our children is great.I have continually told the premier and other cabinet members that with 435000 coming to the south west in the future it is insult to their future standards of living to expect them to have it lowered by these dirty polluting container terminals which if they eventuate will make the area the crime capital of the nation the drigs the guns and other associated crime that would accompany these containers will have a massive effect on all the south west.I am not interested in party politics as it has destroyed the area in the past John Anderson wattle grove.0409368603

My father resigned as secretary of the Labor party in 1954 before the DLP was started and he resigned because of party politics now 58 years later it is still a blight in our political system. He told me that Ben chifley who he knew very well told him dont allow yourself to be dominated by party politics but look on the issue on its merit even it was by the opposition and it has been my motivating aim to help residents to have a greater way in saying how their local area is run.If elected to the council I will be a fervent supporter of giving residents more say into how their local areas are managed. We must not ignore the wishes of local residents who suppose to be our masters.I want commonsense to play a part in Local government John Anderson wattle grove.0409368603

Tim & Co. You obviously don't know either John or Ray. Looking at your comments above it would appear that you are the Galahs and in fact sound very much like political stooges and I wouldn’t want your votes anyway. By the way, good luck John as you are one running for council who doesn’t have a personal agenda or massive ego.

@ Allan C....well talk about being ungrateful, also....we know a lot more about the World than you think. We're actually scholars & the like.

Keep those jokes coming, scholarly bookworm. Your multiple personality must be doing overtime to come up with your posts. LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL, oh stop it you're killing me!!!
John Mannering posts
Don't worry John. Dennis, Tim, Jack, Valiant, David & Peter all sound like stooges of the major parties(guess which is which) so they would likely vote for their own party anyway. Nothing lost there. Why won't they vote for you? Because you are opposing the Moorebank Intermodals, something their party supports. Although whether or not they personally do is another matter.

How about all you local polie`s sit down, have a stiff drink, talk through your differences, Agree to disagree, Stop thinking of yourselves for once & move forward with the residents Intermodal problem top of mind! Then we might get the job done properly without another Liverpool Council Debarcal forcasted!!!
Invincible again, posts
Moving away now from all the 'sadistic, Exorcist-style' venom, it's been shown that Radio 2GB & clique (Alan Jones & Ray Hadley, Chris Smith & other pundits) have supported this proposal all along. Just like we indicated previously. Jethro...you spell debarcle this way!
Moonwalker` posts
Well this latest harangue is 'the icing on the cake' for a disgraceful life & career from Alan Jones at 2GB! A pompus, in-your-face gangster with no proud achievements to look back on & a loud mouth! Even the players he coached in rugby league & the kids he taught at school hated him! I wonder what God has in store for this crackpot when he dies. Meanwhile, the residents of Wattle Grove and all of Sydney will have another gangster to contend with also....Andrew Bolt. He chucks 'tantrums and fits' like a small child if he doesnt get his 'Big Business way' Both are now exposed, which is why its a waste of time listening to radio. Get out your old '80s funk dance tracks and listen to THAT instead!
Moonwalker, posts
AM radio is for fascists! IF YOU MUST LISTEN TO RADIO, listen to FM radio instead like 101.7 WS classic hits or 106.5 MIX. Both 2UE & 2GB are appalling. Do you think any of them on AM sincererly give a stuff about health issues? THEYRE OUT FOR RATINGS IN A CUT-THROAT INDUSTRY! THEY ALSO WORSHIP MATERIALISM AND $$$. Both Bolt and Jones love big business of course.

And lets not forget the other 'big business figure' Clive Palmer who was 'very complicit' in the downfall & removal of Kevin Rudd from his position. He gave 'an ultimatum' to the Labor Party at the time to 'deal with Rudd or else' That's how Gillard was dramatically catapulted into position.

Alan Jones & the like is an ***HOLE! I worked that out 15 years ago! Why haven't you lot? Theyve all been embroiled in many, many scandals. Banking scandals, Qantas scandals, etc.

I don't want to comment on any intermodals anymore, but, anybody who listens to 'talkback radio' is a goose. It should be called 'extremist radio' because thats EXACTLY what it is. It turns people into blood-thirsty lunatics! Because it's instigated by lunatic DJs! And people believe these DJs hook, line and sinker! Fact is, these 'corporate DJs' have money bills coming out of their bum-holes. Cash 4 comment.
Invincible x posts
That's so true. Both 2UE and 2GB (radio) is stacked with raving lunatics. Rabid presenters who just loooooove Big Business. No wonder they show support for them when they can. Their interviews are a sham too. Stuff them!

These Wattle Grove residents think that were a bunch of clowns. FAR FROM IT! For the last 15 years, yep 15 YEARS, we have been lobbying like ***** for better public mass transport throughout Sydney regardless of district. Because were behind by 20 years. We knew Sydney was in crisis back in 1998 so we set out to do something about it. We saw the writing on the wall. Weve lobbied for A) the Parramatta - Epping Rail Link B) the F6 Freeway C) converting the 2 limp T-Ways into tramways D) extending the Eastern Suburbs Line south to Maroubra E) a new Spit Bridge. Weve read the old State Rail Strategic Plan, The Integrated Transport Strategy & Action for Transport 2010 publications. SO we are very much scholars.

@ Allan C, nobody has a massive ego. But, everything is now coming out that all isnt what it was believed to be OR appeared to be. Alan Jones is actually a puppet for corporations (accepting cash donations from the big banks and others) that both parties are colluding over this one (Gillard & Abbott) & that local councillors have had to toe party lines from the state and federal levels. See what happens when youre not that politically well read! VOTE INDEPENDENT like I will. Its the only way.
Roy Carter posts
Idependents have failed to have any influence either...so whats the big deal about them other than giving them a political job?.....Oakshot and co in the Federal Arena have not exactly been shining lights have they?....sorry......but reality bites.....Stick to community campaigning for social justice and give the whole political scene and it's morass of players a miss.
Roy Carter posts
Rallies and Demonstrations for the public is what the intermodal and freight issues in Mooorebank need right now rather than more political entanglement and complication in my opinion.....there are just too many players.
Ray Van posts
It takes courage to put your name forward for election, be it council, state or federal. For local government I firmly believe there is no place for political affilliations to any party line. A candidate elected who puts the local area first is the best result for the ratepayers.
Roy Carter posts
.....we are all entitled to our view........I have campaigned myself....rather than depending on others to do it for me.....on the Moorebank Freight Zone issue specifically that is......it is too big for a mere council to take on without massive grassroots support.
Roy Carter posts
The Communities of Liverpool and the South West of Sydney require opportunities to form non political protest groups in my opinion.......there are a plethora of issues from traffic..to social consequences, pollution of the river environment and the built environment......visual pollution, potentials for suburban road damage......air pollution, especially v2.5ppm from deisel emissions (eg Health Impacts) etc etc etc......all consequential to the establishment of a concentrated freight corridore and consolidated freight zone....... public protest gatherings should be pursued as often as possible by the emergent groups to gather numbers to their sector of the issue......individual campaigns , highlighting the concerns of the group should be pursued to place the issue s widely in the public eye......signs, leaflets etc will be required in great abundance along with internet campaigning and publicity in mass media is essential.

In the economics sphere, something is certainly going on that is very strange but also worrying and scary! It is now 2012.....not 1985, or 1990, or 2000! It is now, wait for it, 2012! Yet were still behind on our basic needs. Building costs of modern infrastructure are just staggering, well above what one would consider rational & reasonable! The planned rail link up through Castle Hill and Bella Vista just hit the 8 BILLION mark. WHY? The Parramatta to Epping leg of rail line just hit 2.5 BILLION (just for 11 kms of rail line with basic stations) The Intermodals themselves wont be cheap to build either, budgeted in the billions, even by the private sector! WHY? This soaks up valuable resources for other projects we need as billions are shunted towards just ONE project! If one project was a bit cheaper there would be money to go around for some of the other things! Im certain that its THIS that needs a full public inquiry! My gut feeling is that it could be the 'neocon' economic dogma of the times..... private building firms contracted out to build something and charging an arm and a leg for it! F***! We actually need a transparent public inquiry into this highway robbery!
Telford` posts
Infrastructure is essential to good living. Trains, roads, water pipes, electricity grids, hospitals, etc. Yet.... Tony Abbott commented in the SMH paper that when he gets into power, he wants to make $50 Billion worth of cuts Aust.wide! But cuts to what? We simply cannot afford any more cuts as it is! S***! Infrastructure delivery and its associated wheeling and dealing, backroom deals & shady deals needs a Royal Commission! Let's not forget the 'Table of Knowledge' down at Fairy Meadow with Wollongong Council's corruption in 2006/07.
Telford, posts
Phone calls need to be made & questions need to be asked & pleas made for open public inquiries into WHY it costs so much to build something, these days! Frankly, were not getting value for money, I think building companies & contractors are giving us ultimatums & blackmail, & as such, it's taking years to get things done! Were not getting "value for money" & it's becoming a bit of a scandal! Even the fools in AM radio actually support this status-quo. $500 million per km for road or rail track is not "value"
Roy Carter posts
Social Value in outcomes not just economic pursuits are part of the governmenmts job Telford....thats why they like trhe private sector to develop im the case of the Freight Zone in Moorebank....case they know it is socially wrong, morally repugnant and dangerous to the health of ordinary Australians!

Garyc you would not have the intelligence to vote as you have no compassion for our kids or the residents who will be badly effected by these polluting container terminals that are going to destroy the area. You probably wouldnt be able to find the area on a gps.It is about time residents realise the seriousness of the situation and start fighting for their families John Anderson wattle grove.0409368603

It is very strange for the Union to be also supporting the intermodal plans of Moorebank. Usually they're against these sorts of things......unless everything is put out in the open and on the table. I understand that they dont have the power and muscle they once had back in the 1970s and 1980s.......but this is odd frankly. I also understand that many of its upper echelons and management jumps into bed with and sucks up to corporate management but even so..... to vote this way on Moorebank is still rather odd. Im bemused. Make no mistake that this is a big business venture for suppliers and operators of bulk freight. Vast quantities of bulk freight (with Canberra's blessings) loaded onto road trains and traditional rail trains, similar to that found in rural/regional areas.

Yes & TONY ABBOTT was "captured" by the parliament cameras "dashing for the door" & "making a run for it" to avoid the spotlight (in the Thompson affair) but was locked in by the Speaker! He wanted to avoid scrutiny and the spolight of it all! He later hid in his office to have nothing to do with this affair! Could he react in the same way if "push comes to shove" over the Moorebank Intermodals??? I wonder? Because he is the "alter boy" of the "business community" after all!
Telford* posts
I think the future "Abbott Team" are guys local residents really need to get acquainted with. Not just the current "Gillard Team" These are very interesting times indeed. What with unions, Abbott, Gillard, etc. And Barry O'Farrell's energies are totally devoted to those 2 rail link projects he promised for (not really towards Moorebank)
'Telford posts
Our politicians are just a bunch of 'suits and faces' ..... stale, feeble & uncharismatic folks in Armani suits who are 'the public face' of the real powerbrokers & string pullers ..... big business. We hardly had any charismatic or bold politicians here & God knows if we ever will. Canberra today is full of 'suits and faces' who talk like robots. Bob Carr is a classic example. He excels in 'shuffling paper' and in speaking in monotones and cliches.
Roy Carter posts
Hi Telford realistically most of the politicians do not represent average Australia...in fact as a whole they are just a bunch of Sociatal Misfits with extraordinarily big ego's that want to be big timers and take the bucks and perks......their contribution has seen honour and values destroyed and a dog eat dog contest emerge in this country......no culture at all....... other than oneself. The concept of a society is just a myth and adherence to the flag a convenience.....what a pity.
Ray Van posts
So it's all settled then, you will all be voting independent come coucil elections?
Roy Carter posts
I doubt that would change the status quo in any quick fix Ray....but you are entitled to think so?......I think better the communities realise the failings overall and pressure the parties that hold real power over the Moorebank Freight Zone Proposals at this stage...hoping there is some compassion left in there somewhere for the people of South West Sydney and especially the Wattle Grove and Casula Areas facing absolute innundation with air pollution, traffic and noise..
Diana's signing off posts
Keep it in mind y'all that Barry O'Farrell "AINT" as bad as he seems. Yes, he's a Liberal & yes he's a conservative, but with a little 'L' .......not A BIG "L" like Tony Abbott. Abbott on the other hand is a total ratbag. A piece of scum that is sly! Wattle Grove residents need to remember this when casting their votes on election day. He sleeps like a baby at night..... without a conscience. I dont know how he does it. Maybe he thinks of waves & surfboards to get him through the night.

Yes, yes, I know, Tony Abbott & his "1947 A.D. TEAM" are only fit to shine my shoes with a hanky on a Circular Quay wharf! That's it! He decries Barry O'Farrell .... unjustified. And it is ABBOTT who has the mental problems.
Roy Carter posts
The O'Farrell Government announced today the Light rail to use the Heavy Rail Harbour Corridore from Dulwich Hill....of course the Regular Passenger Rail that already exists from Dulwich hill will take a fraction of the time to reach the city from the same starting point.....what a joke.....sidelining Sydney's great harbour with afterthought use of it's existing facilities! Instead the South West and especially Liverpool are to wear all of the Freight Problems......thanks to the unvisionary "yes minister" Politicians of all pursuasions.

I think I'll be voting Independent at the next state or federal election. It's apparent that large capital is in a strong, influencial position in many sectors. Mining magnates, FREIGHT magnates, banking magnates, etc. Senator George Brandis (fed. Lib.) makes no secret his love for such people.
