The Green Screen: Climate Fix Flicks festival is an initiative launched by climate scientists from Macquarie University, The University of Melbourne and Monash Sustainability Institute. The goal is to raise awareness of the opportunities and positive effects of moving the world towards a low carbon future. The 2012 film festival aims to promote positive change by illustrating some of the best options for fixing Australia's and indeed the world’s climate future http://www.greenscreen.org.au/

March 13th movie screening FREE to all comers and illsutrates: 1. TODAY’S CLIMATE CHALLENGE Feature Film - The Traveller: depicting a future where famine and water shortages are rife and where governments have to take extreme measures to limit the population.

2. A REAL SOLUTION: HOW A LOW CARBON FUTURE WORKS Feature Film - Solar Impulse: The Wings of the Sun: the amazing story of solar-powered flight of over 24 hours. If we can fly free of fossil fuel then ‘the sky’s no limit’!

And then (the main event)- 3. ACHIEVING COMMUNITY MOTIVATION Green Screen: Climate Fix Flicks Most Highly Commended 11 movies: Wonderfully creative and widely diverse in message and entertainment focus.

after the screening of the shortlisted movies we will be announcing the WINNER of the 2012 Green Screen Grand Prize. We will also recognize the remaining top ten Highly Commended movies and launch a Peoples’ Choice on-line vote. Presentation of prizes and certificates will be made by two of our three ‘celebrity Winner Judges’: Professor Tim Flannery, Professor Lesley Hughes and Mr Kimble Rendall

After the screening at the Randwick Ritz (around 9.15 pm) we will have musical entertainment by the amazing group ‘Men with Day Jobs’ playing after the 13th screening – they will for sure showcase their ‘Denial Tango’ plus other green songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrURLJ6Vl...
