Speed may have been a factor, teenager hit on nature strip dies in hospital
The boy was found by ambulance officers lying on the nature strip with extensive injuries and was taken to Bankstown Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. The teenager died this morning.
The driver of the red Nissan Pulsar, a 17 year old, was arrested near the scene of the crash and taken to Bankstown Police Station for blood and urine tests.
Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit officers are now investigating the crash but it is believed speed was a factor.
Police urge anyone who saw the collison or any of the circumstances prior to the crash to contact the Metropolitan CIU or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
