Locals to benefit from $800,000 grant for Lyne Park boating facilities
The funding will be provided to Woollahra Municipal Council who applied for the Grant through the NSW Government's Better Boating Program 2011-12.
Ms Upton said the grant was good news for both the boating community and local residents.
"Boating is a popular activity for many residents in the Vaucluse Electorate and I welcome funding to improve the facilities at Lyne Park.
"Woollahra Council will be granted $800,000 of funding to replace and widen the existing boat ramp and to install two pontoon facilities that will vastly improve safe and convenient access.
The announcement was welcomed by Mayor of Woollahra Susan Wynne, who said that the grant will provide much needed upgrades to the facility.
“I am thrilled we have been given the funding from the NSW Government.
This will allow us to improve the current boating facilities at Lyne Park for the whole community to enjoy,” said Mayor Wynne.
Ms Upton said that the grant will allow safety and boat management to be improved at the facility.
"I understand that safety has been a concern at the existing launch ramp. The grant will ensure a much safer environment can be provided for the boating community.
"Upgrading these facilities will also allow better management of the number of boats being launched at Rose Bay, which is an important issue for local residents, Ms Upton said.
