Children join in the fun at the annual Bush Christmas
As part of council’s Schools Environmental program for all ages, children were taken on an excursion through local bushland to introduce them to the wonders of nature in the local bushland and discover native animals and their hidden habitat.
During the activity, council’s bushland staff acted out an entertaining pantomime about a Fairy Penguin, a Swamp Wallaby and a Koala who escape from the zoo and find themselves in the Willoughby bushland. Encountering other native wildlife and a feral fox on their journey, the three animals learn about their local environment and the importance of caring for it.
Following with a Bush Christmas party in the local bushland, children enjoyed watching another performance by bushland staff and singing a range of Christmas carols. There was even a special visit from the Bush Santa Claus!
