NSW motorists are advised to avoid all non essential travel in Northen NSW , Road Closure Lists

Because we are a local site,in normal circumstances we would not update you with traffic information for Northern NSW but given the magnitude of the flooding crisis in SE Queensland, the flow on effects and localised flooding Northern NSW, we are publishing these traffic warnings and notifications. Please do not travel on closed roads or attempt to drive through floodwaters and the RTA is advising motorist to cancel all non-essential travel regardless of whether the road is open or not.

The following information has been supplied by the RTA (Transport Management Centre)

" The Pacific Highway will be closed in both directions at Shark Creek at 1pm for aprox 90 minutes to allow 500+ head of cattle to be moved from a low lying area in Shark Creek to Tyndale - a distance of 5km. During this time motorists in both directions will be diverted via Summerland Way. This diversion will add an extra 1 hour to your travel time.

Police will be conducting this operation with RTA operating diversion points.

Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time and expect delays.

Other flood affected state roads in NSW:

The New England Highway is closed in both directions between Tenterfield and the Queensland border. This is due to flooding in Queensland.

The Bruxner Highway is closed in both directions between Tenterfield and Casino.

The Gwydir Highway is closed in both directions between Grafton and Glen Innes.

Motorists who are travelling north on the New England Highway are advised to use the Pacific Highway by using either Waterfall Way at Bellingen or the Oxley Highway from Bendemeer rejoining the Pacific Highway at Wauchope. The Oxley Highway diversion is not suitable for B doubles.

Motorists wanting to access Queensland are advised to travel via the Pacific Highway. The general public can obtain information regarding road closures and conditions on Queensland roads by visiting www.131940.qld.gov.au or call 07 3292 6095.

The Pacific Highway remains open in both directions. (diversions will be in place via Summerland Way at Shark Creek for 90 minutes from 1pm, to allow 500+ head of cattle be be moved 5km to higher ground. Motorists should allow an additional 1 hour travel time.

Due to adverse weather conditions and localised flooding in the northern region of NSW motorists are advised to avoid all non essential travel.
