If you don’t like Lend Lease’s or Barangaroo Delivery Authority plans for Barangaroo, what would you like to see built on the site?

Development, of some form, is supported by most people for the site, so what form and mix and height would you like to see on the site?

Does Barangaroo need a large hotel? How many commercial towers should be built? What should happen with public transport? Trade-offs between parkland and built environment? How should the relationship with the harbour be addressed? Should the design be bold or modest? Do you like some parts of the current design or would you start with a blank piece of paper?

And what consultation should have been undertaken with the community? Or are you happy with the consultation by Lend Lease and BDA?

For those of you who love the current plans, you can of course also explain why you wouldn’t change a thing...

All constructive thoughts welcome!

As many NIMBYs have indicated, they want nothing but a giant park with nothing but trees and grass spanning the entire area of the site.

EnmoreNathan posts

I would like to see a bridge built from Barangaroo to Balmain East. It would ease traffic off the western distributor and the ANZAC bridge. I would also make sure light rail could be run along the bridge so locals could commute in easily.

EnmoreNathen posts

i retract my last comment, it wasn't thought through. i apologise. p.s. build a park!!

Clover posts

I would like to a few townhouses surrounded by a big dog walking park. I would like 10 years of consultation to determine that this is what we all want. Until then, nothing else is really acceptable as this is owned by the people and should have people in it. I would prefer that all of the CBD was a park actually, or at most, a village. Only old people should have a say too, we don't want ethusiastic youngens striving for international excellence, we want others who complain about most things to help drag this out so that nothing much happens at all.

SammyJ posts

I am glad you retracted your bridge idea Nathan. That would only congest balmain even further with the already tight roads and 4WDs everywhere. I am in town planning and find it laughable to wonder where your bridge would conect to balmain? are you proposing it conects where the existing (100yr plus old) ferry station is? As i said, laughable. Either way, Darling st is not anywhere near being able to cope with the amount of traffic you are discussing. Not to mention the herritage you would destroy in widening the road. Maybe you and the others could start riding a push bike to work like myself. About the proposed site. i would think a compromise between development and parkland (shared community space) would and should be achievable.

EnmoreNathan posts

At least I can spell my name right. Nothing wrong with the bridge idea. What would it connect to? An elevated freeway of course. Why do you think Gladesville Bridge is so large, or the intersection with Burns Bay Road so elaborate? The required infrastructure is there to allow for a greater flow of traffic to the penninsula, all that is needed is the final piece. A bridge, with a park each side.

Dan posts

Bridge? That has got to be one of the stupidest ideas I have ever heard. As for the current proposal, I think the current ratio of parkland to development is right.

I want taller skyscrapers, at least 15 tallies can easily fit there. Commercial towers up to 300m and the Big Red Hotel at 250m. The parkland should be confined to the north of the site.

As a proud sydneysider living o/s with a good view of how other big cities are growing, I think the current plan by Lend Lease is just right - a good balance between development & open parkland & a fitting extension of this great international city!

Why all this fascination with skyscrappers? I think there is way more than we need and the people in them aren't very nice and are a little bit different. They attract the wrong sorts. Keep those towers out in places like Penrith where they are better suited. With the glooming food shortage the site is perfect for growing crops as it is flat, square and long. It would probably suit wheat or barley and these are dwindling globally. There should be more farms encouraged for the CBD, maybe via subsidies and tax breaks. Think local, buy local we say.

A park is good. I like parks. A nice park would be, well, nice. Let's put a park at the northern end. Then at the southern end let's treat it like it is; a large block of land in prime position in the biggest CBD of the largest economy in the Southern Hemisphere: let's build tall (but nice) towers! Make them hot, make then awesome, make them give people visual orgasms when they look at them! +300m would be a good start.

I'd like to see them dig up the current wharves and turn the site into a marina for boating enthusiasts, Greek shipping magnates and Love Boat captains such as myself. There should also be a small park scurvy dog walking park and a golden statue of Alan Bond.

Zirt posts

Do you realise Bradfield's original plans had a bridge just like the one described as well as the Syd. Harbour bridge? North end of Baranagaroo parkland, south end high quality tall buildings with active ground level public areas. Build hotel right up to Dr Campbell's doorstep, he annoys me with his constant attempts to sabotage this project and have it scaled back. Surely his pad in a heritage wharf is a worse example of privatizing the harbour than hotels/workplaces/shopping/parks and cultural centres open for all?

I love how most of this site will be turned into a beautiful park. This will compliment the Botanic Gardens. I just wish there was an iconic building being built out the tip of the North end so it could compliment the Oprah House. It should be of real funky modern design that hasn't been attempted before. What I don't like is the hotel and the towers. I think they are too soft and weak. The hotel should be right out in the middle of the water and reach over 500m. This would look spectacular and modern. The commercial towers are a little fat so I wish they were skinnier but twice as tall. More apartments for people too.

Don't blame Lend Lease. This scheme was ruined by the greedy government who got it wrong from the beginning. I need to declare an interest from this point on... My entry for the naming comp "Peperoni Point" didn't win. I even gave them a master plan complete with quarter mile drag strip and laser disco. I'm currently writing a song in protest. The working title is "Who hid the peperoni in Lend Lease". Catchy, no?

Real Worker posts

As it was once an industrial centre where they made cars and ships I think it should have been used for industry again and mainly manufacturing. Australia needs more manufacturing and this site would have been perfect and would have transformed us back into a manufacturing hub. It has a lot of room for various different types of factories. Opportunity lost with this one. There's already way too many parks.

Justin posts

Reading these comments just confirms for me that the more you open these big projects up to consultation the more likely the retards will come out and demand absolute rubbish. Beyond a public design competition there should be no further "consultation", it's a weak concept. An local council's should have no say in big projects either because they are only going to listen to all these idiots that have responded on this page and, again, only rubbish will come of it. Council's should be responsible for nothing nore than approving a new outdoor area tackily plopped onto the side of a house.

OverIT posts

Are all these comments really from different people? They sound more like a scripted "to and fro" by a bunch of interns paid by Lend Lease - pretending to be interested Sydney-siders. I think the real Sydney-siders have gone on holidays (taking advantage of the strong $) and can't be bothered. Apathy reigns! Here's to Shady Acres (the developers retirement fund) aka Barangaroo - looks like we'll get what we deserve...

I'd like to acknowlege the original owners of this site - Patrick Corporation. Real Worker must be referring to those car factories that used to float next to the site with newly made aussie corollas rolling off the line every now and then. Manufacturing? Why didn't Lend Lease think of that. Can we call Dick Smith? People, you have to be bold to get anywhere in life. When I invented the jeans, shirt and tie look back in 93, I took heaps of bagging from Amanda (Heather Locklear) but I held in there and now I lay claim to a design icon. Barangaroo maybe the geeky Billy of Sydney, but with the right script, she could be a doctor or even an advertising account manager like me. That's right Amanda, me and Barangaroo are together, we're gonna make it after all. I saw you and Jake in the pool on New Years. It didn't look innocent to me.

The Chad posts

I don't like it, thanks for asking. The buildings look like they are made of plastic to me and where is the colour? Another Rogers masterpiece perhaps? What a visionary. But heaps better than the brown ones they built next door without any windows or chimneys. Probably a Telstra exchange or energy australia substation. The trees look nice but again, plasticky. Is that a word? Hey mum I just invented a word! The hotel is just begging to be taken out by Godzilla. She would pluck the maritime tower out of the ground and lay into that sucker like the godfather on a wayward don. Stoopid Lend Lease, that'll learn ya.

Being a Hillsong member I feel that this would be perfect for a large convention centre of worship. One thing I notice when in the city is all the demons so this place would be perfect to bring back the love of Jesus and show people the true path of God. We should be able to fit in a few Gloria Jeans too which would be good for business.

Footy Fan posts

I would like to see a Melbourne Docklands style dome built there. Moore Park is too out of the way and has no good public transport connections. Putting a 57,000 seat dome in the centre of the city like this would be brilliant.

I'm wondering why no one has suggested that this becomes Sydney's second airport? It is almost ready already to be an airport. All you need are the people facilities along Hicksens street. Being right on the cities edge would really encourage people to fly to Sydney because they could walk from the airport to their hotels and most sites of interest. Should be good for tourism.

This 'Barangaroo' should be turned into one large cornbread factory, or even better a 1000m tall cornbread factory. We can make Sydney the no.1 cornbread producer in the world. Please people think of the benefits to our children!

I beleive the goverment should use this land area to build a cemetery. At present the cemeteries are located in noisy suburbs with too much traffic. Barangaroo is a nice quiet location on the water, away frmo the hustle and bustle.

Aaron posts

I quite like the masterplan released by Lend Lease for Barangaroo, but would love to see an enclosed mall added to the retail component. The Sydney CBD lacks the clean, modern, air-conditioned malls that you find in the suburbs. All the shops in Central Sydney front directly onto streets with heavy traffic. I hate walking outside on the footpath between stores, being accosted by homeless beggars, smokers and rollerbladers. It is an unpleasant shopping experience. The people have spoken and they prefer malls like Westfield Liverpool and Macarthur.

Everyone knows that the Sydney Olympics were the best ever. Juan Antonio Samanarch even said so at the closing cermemony. Our great nation must not rest on our laruels, but we should put in another bid for the Olympic Games in 2020. It would showcase to the world that we are finally past our Post-Olympic hangover. While the current Olympics Park was fine for its time, it will be outmoded in another 10 year's time. Barangaroo would be a good location to build another Olympic Park in Sydney, with all the technology that you'd expect of a games in 2020.

Sydney city center has an appalling lack of affordable carparks. Australia is meant to be an egalitarian society. However the middle class are forced to pay exorbitatnt prices for carparks, while the bogans on bus and train only have to pay dirt cheap fares. This development will only increase the demand for car parking spaces. A recent study concluded that over 150,000 people work in the Sydney city center. Therefore the Barangaroo should be built above a massive underground carpark, with a capacity of 200,000 or more. You won't find a better location, as Barangaroo is a large, undeveloped property within walking distance of the city center.

This derelict, desolate wasteland should be home to the NSW army barracks. Holsworthy is too far away for most of Sydney's residents. Nobody can cross the Western Distributor so it will be safe and separated from the city.

Guillermo posts

The Barangaroo development is simply too small. It would be better if they extended it to Balmain and North Sydney by reclaiming parts of Harbour. It would solve the chronic land shortage in inner Sydney. As nice as the Harbour is, this issue is more important.

I would love to see Barangaroo used as the earth end of a space elevator. Australia currently doesn't have an official space industry, so to set up a megastructure in Sydney would help draw more engineers to Australia.

I would like to give the NIMBY's what they want. An open design competition and democratic vote. At the next election, as side ballot should be run with open submissions put to the public. Unfortunately for the NIMBY's they would soon realise that no one cares about their Kent Street Views or Pyrmont sunshine. They would want an open, significant, iconic new destination. I daresay, it would probably even be bigger, bolder and taller than the current proposal. And of course, if included in the criteria were open costings, there is no way anything smaller than the current proposal would stand a chance as who else will pay for site remediation?

Barangaroo is a beatiful waterfront location it should have an iconic building one that stands for Sydney and Oz. Lets face it Sydney should be capital of Oz. Canberra is a dump nobody gos there lifeless boring. Why not move the pariliament to Barangaroo and have it here? Build an iconic parliament building overlooking the sparkling Sydney harbour.

After reading some of these comments, I must say that the stupidity of some people knows no bounds. This comment in particular by Proud Sydneysider takes the cake: "Commercial towers up to 300m and the Big Red Hotel at 250m." What a moronic, illogical suggestion. Towers that tall would take the focus away from the magnificent elegance of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. I realise we are brainstorming ideas, but you must still use you brain.

The fundamental evocation intrinsic to this urban revitalisation is to exemplify the zeitgeist of meritorious ambivalence. Each peculiarity must engender and inculcate deference to the specificity of the prevailing epoch.

TC. That is a brilliant suggestion. When I am overseas, nobody knows what the capital of Australia actually is. They all think it's Sydney! Why should our capitol, the place where the big decisions are made, wallow in mediocrity? It is time to think big. Unfortunately the barangaroo site is not sufficiently large for a new parliament, which is why we must drain Sydney harbour and reclaim the land. This also has many other benefits such as affordability and availability of space. Our city can then be truly great, the capitol and gateway to Australia. All we need to do is drain and reclaim the harbour!

The Sydney sedimentary basin is home to some of the world's largest reserves of black coal. In the 19th Century a colliery was established at Birchgrove and operated for several decades. I propose that coal mining be reinstituted at East Balmain, with coal loading facilities and a new baseload coal-fired power station to be constructed at the Bangarangaroo site, adding millions of dollars a year to the NSW economy.

A master plan and not a concept plan. This is a 1st for NSW- concept plan... hmm I have many of them but most don't bear fruit as I suspect this one won't. It all about locking in building envolopes and the amount of static comming from LL via this page proves we have had an effect.....you just wait till the Independants gain control then you will be brought to book as via a Royal Commission others in the past have found! And I'll be asking for those companies found to have had corrupt dealing with NSW or any of thier ministers to pay and pay BIG as that is the only thing along with jailing the folks would work long term. I am a well travelled individual and I travelled past this location on the weekend and I must say, it has the perfect dimensions for a Dubbo Plains Zoo style free-range zoo. It would be brilliantly located and should be good for tourism. All the animals should be encouraged to breed via enticements and stimulation. When there is excess stock the carnivores and herbivores could be brought together so that people can watch how prey is taken down and consumed. Trophy hunters should be allowed in amongst this and the money gained from them could go into building granstands along Hickson road so that people can enjoy this spectacle.

Due to being only 2 metres above sea level, the towers at South Barangaroo could go up to 300+ metres and would still barely poke above the existing buildings when viewed from the east. There is no danger at all that they could detract from the postcard view of the bridge and Opera House as they sit too far south to have any impact.

JBY posts

Oh and I agree completely that the masterplan should be put to a public vote. Anyone can make a submission, with zero restrictions or boundaries in respect of height, floor space ratio, sun access planes, residential views, or parkland content. Every submission would be voted on by the people of NSW. I can guarantee that the winner would be a damn sight taller and bolder than what we're getting (though I'm sure there would still be cries of lack of transperancy from the NIMBY's who want nothing more than a grassy knoll to watch from their Balmain/Kent St houses).

I have never understood why Olympic Park has been turned into a race track. This Bongaroo location would be far better to be honest. With Sydney being world class we could build a world class racing circuit right on the edge of our CBD. There is no doubt that even Formula 1 will be asking to race there with the beautiful city as a backdrop. It could also hold Friday and Saturday night drag races so as to get our kids off the streets. Should be good for tourism.

I think Barangaroo should be set aside as a receptacle for Sydney's peanut husks. The people of Sydney should be encouraged to increase their consumption of peanuts and place their husks at the site, and a stable of 34 000 elephants could be kept on site to hasten this process. Sixteen moons from now Sydney will be able to take advantage of an emerging trend in landscape design and frolic amongst the worlds largest peanut-husk-mulch garden.

I think we should build a giant holiday manse for our future evil-overlord Kim Jong Il, one that can't be seen from Kent St. This way we may live while the others perish!

The site would be prefect for a human tower. Just leave the land as it is, get 20,000 people to stnad on top of each other, and you have one of the world's great tourist attraction. It can be 80 metres high that's even higher than the Opera house!!! Toilet breaks could be an issue, but they can just relieve themselves or defecate into the harbour- problem solved.

The Barangaroo area should be a family-friendly place where working families can work and enjoy Sydney life with their families. Working families could work in this space and take their families their after work. Workers can also take their families before work, if there families would like that too happen. As I said, it should be a family-friendly place for working families and their families.

There should be a Kmart and a Big W here. There are none in the city center, you have to go all the way to Broadway??? That is unacceptable, too far to walk. We need more bargain stores in the Sydney CBD. TURN BARANGAROO INTO BARGAINAROO!!!!!!!!

In reality I would like something functional. I do think however it is an underdevelopment - had this been anywhere else in the world right now in this day and age it would have been turned in to a whole new city waterfront instead of a few mid-rise towers and over emphasized parkland. It is unfortunate, especially in this financial climate we are in. In addition it serves no real function other than office space and what will become a notoriously dangerous parkland in the night by the water. This is why anarchism will never work. Everybody has their own interest at heart and unfortunately these people have lead Barangaroo to a scaled down vision to the detriment of most sydneysiders who already lack a lot of facilities in comparison to other major global cities. UDC who built the man made islands (Pearl Qatar) said Sydney had the greatest waterfront in the world alongside Venice. So why are we not taking advantage of this by building function by the water and re-invigorating a water's edge, which has been dead to the people for so long. You don't build big parks by the water. It is Dangerous at night, invites criminals, drug users and it a complete waste of money. Have we not learnt this by overseas developments such as Battery Park in New York City? Functionality is the key and so it CAPITALISM.

NIMBYs at our age has been increased mentality level less than focusing on their life basing what important it is. It is far more difficult to find compatible for me due of anti-development problem in them. Im sorry Barangaroo is just a small world, i prefer to get out more within larger population such as Docklands or Southbank if the case of transferring city for right development pathway. What i have seen here through constructions, more NIMBYs oppose development than others by the survey from SCC living in city! This does help increase of STD, HIV, AIDs and other type of diseases omitting life respect. I dont want to increase standard levels on development because i have alot of friends here who develops. It because i prefer their views more than what they do! In the case about the premier its way more difficult whereas developing Barangaroo will enable relationship issues, such as raped by other person, sexual relations with other person, hospitalization and development of cancer. Our civilization is not about death, its all about respect. No NIMBY can handle any development in their cities because no one can beat that case of issue. This could be where the dead end exists and may affect other people life opportunities including me.

You people are just being stupid with your ridiculous proposals. Everyone knows that Sydney is under direct threat from invasions by those cheeky Indonesians. So funny i told you guys b4 i live in north Sydney far away from the toxic waste zone that you are going to create ,I mite even leave the state now i dont want to be any where near the site when they start to dig,I wonder if they have told the kids who go to the day centre under the Bond building and their parents that they are going to be exposed to high levels of toxic dust from the site, I belive in health not wealth , i cant even afford a car, so no i am not going to lose anything i have nothing to take, i hope you can sleep at night knowing you are exposing families who are trying to work to pay for all the crap you guys are spending your money on, What about hospitals what about aborigines living in northern territory , it amazing Barangaroo can get the go a head over night why the rest rot and wait for something to save them, The government wont , i was in the room when they tried to sell the project to the Chinese and the koreans they just laughed at the project and walked out of the meetings and they were insulted when the Chinese guy they were trying to sell the 6 billion project too was the bus driver that took the Chinese minister there, thats why the premiere ran to Shanghai because the Chinese were insulted , and the koreans said the project is going to take more then 20 years , and said they dont want the responsibility of removing the toxic waste, so good luck with opening pandoras box, Merry Christmas mite be the last for some of the children

I think this is probably one of the best things to have happened to Sydney in like ages. I for one cannot wait to wander this new precinct once built, and to lay in the beautiful new park. I hope to do lots of shopping here, it does look perfect for it. On the question of what I would have done here, well I love the sun and the beach so as a city office worker I would love it if they created a long beach so I could go for a swim at lunch and lay on the beach to get soak up a few rays. It would be good if there were those European style sunbeds for hire where people serve you drinks. Me and my friends from work would love to be able to take a long lunch on the beach sipping pino's. Yum yum yum. I think we will still get to at the cool bars that will be there. This will be perfect for us, just brilliant.

Toxic waste posts

Lady G, I will pay too see you have a few pinos lay in the sun on your European style sun bed, surrounded by your shopping bags getting charged $15 for half a hour of parking! Getting moved on by SHFA rangers who will be watching everyones movement ,Then you can slip into the water and get attacked by one of the local Bull Sharks! Next time dont have 5 valiums b4 you comment

i dont think she has to worry about cancer and sun with the plans there will be only about 10 minutes of sunlight on the site any way, people should be worryed about the staff that are getting sacked who are working for Barangaroo,And having to leave the country in fear, and are not aloud to return to there desk to get there stuff because they fear that information will be leaked to the public , i hope i get caught out so i can go public to tell everyone what the plains are , i tell you this they are breaking the money trail so when investigated there will be to many places for the money to hide

I said it before and I will say it again, if you don't like it, leave.

Toxic Waste - The Supreme Dribbler! Maybe if you had a good grasp of the English language, rather than being full of spelling and gramatical errors, people might actual take you seriously. But alas, you sound like a complete nutter. Did someone mention tinfoil hats somewhere? Sheesh. And posting your irrelevant message 3 times doesn't make it hold any more weight. Good way to annoy the rare few people that might actually listen to your rants. "Front line" lol. Actually, megalolz! It is a flimsy front line. Other than the selfish few trying to protect their views, no one gives a damn about being on your frontline, other than Bigfella, who, by his poor grasp of English also, is probably just one of your multies anyway. Your argument is just another excuse to try and kill off Sydney and turn it into a communist backwater. You are totally transparent bra! And you will continue to lose because we, the vast majority, cannot wait to receive this wonderful new precinct in Sydney. Should be good for tourism.

Bigfella posts

Leave if you don't like it! We are sinking lower by the minute tch tch to attack ones spelling oh dear it just shows what dribble your rant is. We (those oppossed the corruption of this development)are in fine company with some of the authoritive (The Establishment) people in Sydney. From the posting on Lend Leases site it appears a large number are from else were in other countries or states. You are not a majority nor are we, each is a presser group one in the hands of a multinational the other concerned Sydney residents. Your attempt at "verbing" anyone who is oppossed to the coruption and lack of transperancy.

Rosario You Should use the information I provided above Lady G and the PR girls. It will provided all the proof of toxic waste you may need as for corruption, have you been OS or what for the last 12 months. The process was corrupted once the laws and planning controls were changed by the NSW to suit Lend Lease for reports see Sydney Morning Herald "Lack of transperance" The Royal Commission after the election will uncover who what when of the other type of corruption has taken place. Mind the IT boys are prob deleteing and clearing the hard drives as we speak. They have spent apacket already on PR or spin so nothing suprises me...They have even hacked me several time in the last 48hrs thats corruption for ya!

This is brilliant news!!! Sydney will have a new extension of the CBD, our city is growing and keeping pace with the rest of the world. Why are there always some people who will complain, no matter what? New apartments, parks and restaurants are being built. Who is that harming, exactly?

NTJ posts

One of the main facets of modern society I greatly disdain is the tendency of some to oppose for the sake of opposition itself. It is a vacuous and insincere activity, in which one purports to have a balanced critical outlook. The insincerity lies in the inability of the individual to recognise their own shortcomings when it comes to even-handedness. An utterly juvenile exploit, luckily in this case one which has proven fruitless.

Toxic waste posts

I dont mind New apartments, parks and restaurants being built. Its the toxic waste under it all, the 3000 construction workers will be affected and people working in a 5 k area of the site from the dust good luck, they say they will cover everything they have started digging now stuff is blowing every where go look 4 your selfs

I really like this devolopment and am impressed by the process thus far, and that it is all approved and going ahead. I have never experienced a development that engaged with the public as much as this one. The brainstorming sessions were great and the positive and constructive ideas have really been taken on board. To answer this forums question, what I would like is for all of the ground floor retail to be very high and exclusive, like miu miu and Gucci, so as to discourage those undesirable types from the far suburbs from coming in an ruining the ambience. This is similar to Clover Moores push for cool laneway style bars rather than those crass Kings Cross nightclubs that only attract the outer scum. I couldn't cope if Barangaroo had suburbanites visiting it.

Hey, Toxic Head, even Clean Up Australia has come to realise that your selfish campaign is all about protecting your views so that no one else can enjoy the harbour. But you nimbys will keep using the toxic waste angle, and any other BS angle, to try and protect your wealthy selfish setup.

Poor management blamed over BER failures ABC 7.30 Report - to Toxic Waste - when applying the 'conspiracy theory' around the workings of Lend Lease throw-away the 'theory' and know that 'conspiracy' is rife when allegedly applied to this company. Watch the programmes now being profiled by the ABC 7.30 Report on a Friday to fully understand their strength and their close or should one say 'closeted' friendship/relationship with the NSW State Government. Lend Lease applied 'gagging methods' also when it came to a young cub journalist who dared to write a story about their 50/50 partnership with Fox Studios Australia, and the appalling life threatening toxic legacy both parties have left for the people of Centennial and Moore Park. The threats, allegedly were genuine, so much so that the reporter, after having done face to face interviews with me and having received dozens of documents and evidence, suddenly went silent and non-contactable; a phone call from me exposed the sordid truth; the Truth that both mega parties wanted to be kept 'secret' from the residents and the general public at large. So Toxic Waste you are telling it like it is, my life has been turned topsy turvy because for the past nine and half years I have put my own life on the line to tell the truth and to try and protect those who have no idea that their lives are at risk 24 hours a day seven days a week - we are talking major 'hazardous, toxic Group A Waste materials' emitted and stockpiled without any Australian regulatory requirements/self site regulation is the name of the game here - http://www.foxandchickens.org/hetty/inde... is an indication of Corporate power and greed - Hetty

How nice it is to see that those opposed to Bangaroo have been vindicated. If any above where to see whats going on on this site they would have no delusions that it is toxic. Crickey they have so much decontamination gear there it takes almost 1 ha to contain it! Now we are faced with a global depression I can only hope that the build does not get financed as happened with World Square. The reality is that the financial sector is being transferred to India and Hong Kong due to cheaper wages. It will be a nice park once the toxic waste is removed but I do worry were those containers full of this toxic waste will end up in...at lest they are now being forced to decontaminate this site. One victory for the people of Sydney and the future generations who will live there.

Hetty posts

Dear Bigfella has anyone been able to take photographs of the site activities - it would be interesting to post them on Streetcorner - do you suppose Lend Lease are operating in accordance with their Occupational, Health and Safety video? It might be interesting to have a look at that video do you suppose Lend Lease would make it available - think it was filmed whilst Lend Lease personnel were on another construction site, not sure? As far as the toxic waste is concerned they, Lend Lease, are required to use a 'facility that can LAWFULLY ACCEPT THE WASTE - if it is Toxic then they are also required to apply to the EPA Waste Department to be allowed to transport said Waste - therefore there will be a paper trail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we understand. Hetty

Bigfella posts

It would be ezy to photograph the site from Millers Point which is were I viewed the site from. I understand the process for handling toxic waste but remember drums of toxic radioactive waste was found in a storage warehouse next to Birchgrove Primary school some 5 -7 years ago and this was explained away with "TEMPORY STORAGE" even though it had sat there for more then 10 years. Any road at lest we got them to clean up the site to EPA standards due to our pressure or they would not of done a thing and built on toxic waste that cause cancer! So much for the PR team work above. How can they live with them selves buting others lives at risk all for money!

Hetty posts

Okey dokey then perhaps we might get some photos - more likely than not those drums were 'rusty and under stress' - my understanding from sources, that the NSW State Government and Lend Lease at the time of the 'so-called' toxic investigation at Barangaroo, ensured that they 'snared' all relevant companies in NSW whose job it is to do site inspections. My source also suggested that Public parties go outside of the state of NSW to find independent advice and or companies to inspect the site who had not become associated with either the NSW State Government and or Lend Lease. Not sure if this was in fact undertaken. As a former farmer suffering with MCS am only too well aware of the dangers, as clearly you are; Professor Chris Winder was an immense support to the community of Centennial and Moore Park - refer to our website - he termed the FSA as being of a heavy industrial nature sans any Regulations pertaining to Australian laws, acts and legislation. It is in fact, as it was intended when 50/50 partners Lend Lease and News Corporation knutted out their deal with Federal/NSW State Govs, a site that was to become and continues to be, a self-regulated 'fiefdom' within the country of Australia enforcing its own regulations, which are entirely sympathetic to its operations and that of its industrial sub-tenants. Bet that is the same that has been put together for Lend Lease by the NSW Government. Hetty

Bigfella posts

The inquiry into Barangaroo was gob-smacked at the things that were NOT done or inquired into and reversed the exception to EPA rules seehttp://www.google.com.au/search?aq=1&oq=... this link will help you find your way through the labyrinthine of deception and deceit that has been so called planning of this site. It has a heavy industrial history having been the site of a smelter and gas works...some where hoping that this was not remembered but as one who responds to oral history of Sydney though my talks (Informal) of the elderly over time a of a vast body of knowledge of our City of Sydney....I find the oral history more reliable then the written having been part of compiling historical books much is left out as it is undocumented. I now hope the coming economic depression halts the build as the wind deflection will blast though the City if it ever is built...I do worry about the Frazer site on old Broadway Kent Brewery site causing wind pattern changes as the new buildings will be right in the road of the wind that comes from Botany Bay across the City and though to Snapper Island. Note the City of Sydney has had no wind tunnel of any other wind studies...=(.

i did tell the truth , i have left sydney after being followed and spied on, after leaving my job at 6 am , i went and got another job straight away and i was told by my new boss that i cant work for them any more because i was spotted at the Barangaroo protest! he said he was told by sydney ports they dont want me on the site, after that i couldnt get a job again in sydney and i was straving and had no money for rent so i had to leave and i wont be back, some more info for you is they dug some trenches at barangaroo and they kept filling up with toxic water, so they were aloud to divert the water into the main drainage system at so many litres a hour its still happening now and is probably going into the harbour as you read this, go have alook at the main guard house under the stairs you will see the pipes, i have left now so good luck with everything i am glade i saved a few lives and made sure so childen will have a life with their fathers

Dear Toxic Waste - congratulations it takes guts to stand up for what is right in Australia, most especially in Sydney. All levels of Government perpetuate Corporate Australia's contempt for human life if it in anyway whatsoever interferes with their 'profit' and that of their shareholders; shareholders themselves should and I believe can be held accountable for the 'physical abuse' and endangerment to human life that their company's perpetrate; after all they are happy to take a profit. How do Government Ministers achieve this they ensure that the so-called Regulators give 'blanket' protection to say such companies operating at Barangaroo and their partners - Public servants no longer exist, their contracts state that they are responsible to the Ministers of the day who in turn are responsible to their Corporate chums. I too have endured reprehensible abuse, car brakes drained, alleged phone hacking; computer hacked and emails removed; pushed into oncoming traffic in the city; flat searched when away; pesticide poisoning; this to an MCS sufferer a potential death sentence; the list is endless but will still keep fighting in order to, as with Toxic Waste, save lives. For too long people have turned the other cheek and said it was too hard to take on such High Profile companies as Lend Lease, News Corporation, the Banks etc., that is why they appear to be so powerful, they are not, they are nothing more than BULLIES and after all BULLIES are COWARDS seemingly protected by all levels of Government; they use Abuse and Threats to achieve an outcome; well as other countries are showing the way with people saying enough is enough, well enough is enough here in Australia. Again well done Toxic Waste - you are not alone - I live in poverty, but so too do many others, some because they are poor but others like myself and like Toxic Waste who are saving lives and in doing so INTERFERE with Corporate Australia and Government Ministers agenda; they need to keep us quiet and inactive, and so it is said, will do everything within their power to achieve that outcome - http://www.foxandchickens.org/hetty/inde.... Hetty posts

I am about to post my last will and testimont.....to allow the local community of Centennial and Moore Park and surrounding suburbs and visitors to the area access to the thousands of documents and evidence that have been collected over the past eleven years... as they have the right to know just how they were sold down line in order to accommodate Lend Lease and their 50/50 partners News Corp/Fox Studios Australia including the previous Premier Bob Carr and today's Premier Barry O'Farrell........ Together, it is alleged, Lend Lease and Fox Studios Australia demanded that all of the State and Federal regulatory laws, acts and legislation be removed in order that Fox Studios Australia could operate in an 'unfettered production environment' what this meant was that 'hazardous, toxic group A' waste could be stockpiled and emitted for decades without any liability.......legally exposing and poisoning the community behind a ten foot wall..who were told was high enough to protect them, the community, SFS, SCG and the Entertainment quarter from Asbestos contamination from alleged unsafe demolition and a 560 sq metre 3-4 metre high uncovered Asbestos contaminated dump left for two and half years courtesy of Workcover and the EPA; Robyn Parker you know who, the Minister who allowed ORICA to keep spewing their toxic discharge, has now removed the EPA Licence allowing more cover-up or more undocumented discharge by the site operators....no evidence that is ........no liability for any future class action..... That the ten foot wall would also protect them from a fire, chemical spill or explosion from the highly flammable materials being used and stockpiled on site .....FSA do not make films they lease buildings, as does Botany Industrial Site, to independently owned and operated sub-tenants who operate 24 hrs a day seven days a week, without it is said any supervision other than an on Site Security Guard..... Walk down Paddington Lane to the SFS and see the factory rearing above the ten foot ball..paint spraying, powder coating, aluminium coating on a massive industrial scale not legally seen in the middle of high dense residentially zoned community....are but a few activities in this massive factory which is adjacent to other factories.... Welcome to another Lend Lease partner legacy.....Barangaroo site is a highly toxic and noxious site...that can NEVER be safely cleared....hope James Packers Asian high rollers are not phased by any of this.....?
