Choice gets Getprice comparison shopping site

Choice the consumer advocacy group that has rated and tested products for years, has entered into an exclusive joint venture with Getprice.com.au [now 100% owned by News Corp]

Research is one area Choice is unsurpassed and untouchable when it comes to unbiased reviews on products from smart phone applications to everyday appliances, more than a thousand products are road tested by Choice every year.

Now Choice members will be able to purchase those items directly from their website with GetPrice.com.au price comparison engine. Choice members would normally leave the Choice website and use websites such as Getprice.com.au which scan websites looking for the best prices available.

"This partnership will provide members and visitors with a channel to find the best value for products that Choice has tested and recommended from Getprice's database of over two million products from some one thousand retailers," says Choice's commercial director George Perry.

"By going to the Choice website, you'll be able to read the test reviews and select a product. By clicking on 'Price and Buy', a price comparison page will display the product and prices supplied by retailers – both online and in physical stores – as well as information detailing their warranty, service and delivery terms." said Perry.

This exclusive commercial deal means that Choice will earn 15cents per click through, which is clearly stated on the website and is a great deal for both companies.

"This is an added benefit for Choice members and visitors – a one-stop-shop where you can read the latest product reviews, find the best price for those products and then make a purchase if you wish," says Perry.

CEO of Getprice Chris Hitchen says "Choice readers can make their online purchasing decisions knowing they have the best available information."

"By partnering with Choice , a powerful platform is created where consumers can access credible, independent product reviews from Choice alongside the most comprehensive and up-to-date pricing information powered by Getprice." said Hitchen.

Another benefit of using Getprice is its a market leader in the price comparison market and being owned by News Corp Choice members will know they are using a highly reputable partner.

The explosion of price comparison websites has been slow to take off in Australia and many retailers have been dragged kicking and screaming to allow the publication of the price of goods.

This is a great addition to Choice’s 200,000 members and with buying power like that, I’d imagine retailers that have been resisting online will be forced to get involved or gamble losing a large slice of the pie.

A favourabale review by Choice is almost as good as Oprah Winfery recommending a product.
