The NSW Police have issued a invitation to the people of NSW to attend Constable William Crews funeral service. Yesterday police confirmed that the shot that killed Bill Crews was fired by another police officer. In the wake of this tragedy and the outpouring of community support, all are welcome to join the family and the police community to honouring his life and mourn his passing at tomorrow's (Thursday 16 September) funeral service at St Andrews Cathedral. The service commences at 11.00am.

“I know how this response has touched William’s family. While the pain of his departure is immeasurable, his memory will endure and we have all witnessed an extraordinary outpouring of community spirit and support,” said Commissioner Scipione

“The NSW Police family will be joined by senior police from across Australia at Thursday’s service but I do want to acknowledge the generosity of the people of NSW. Accordingly I do want to make it clear to all who wish to offer their condolences that they are welcome on Thursday morning," said Scipione

The funeral service will be followed by a Police procession along George St.

St Andrews Cathedral is located on the corners of Bathurst and George St, next to Town Hall.

There is a parking station in the St Andrew's House Car Park, behind the Cathedral at 474 Kent Street. (02) 9265 1698. But parking is limited here so public transport is recommended.

The Cathedral is very close to Town Hall Station. Once at Town Hall Station, take the lift to George Street or the stairs from Town Hall Arcade to Sydney Square.
