Holroyd City Council invites all locals to plant a tree in their area in National Tree Day 2010 Sunday 1 August 2010, 10am – 12noon.

Locations below:

North Ward: Girraween Park, Octavia Street, Girraween

South Ward: Guildford West Sportsground, Foray Street, Guildford West

East Ward: Holroyd Gardens Park, Walpole Street, Holroyd

West Ward: Gipps Road Sporting Complex, Gipps Road, Greystanes

Site coordinators will be on hand to demonstrate effective tree planting. Volunteers also receive an effective tree planting method handout to take home.

Council will supply trowels, gloves, buckets and sun screen. Volunteers are advised to wear sensible clothing including sturdy footwear, and to be sun smart. Refreshments will be provided. Volunteers will receive a Certificate in appreciation for their efforts in making Tree Day 2010 a success.

National Tree Day is a Planet Ark initiative and is Australia’s largest community tree planting event. This year another 1 million trees and shrubs are expected to be planted, bringing the Tree Day total to 16 million since 1996!
