I hope everyone has had a good Easter break. I would like to remind parents that Auburn City Council has put together a great holiday activity program at local libraries and community centres. Activities include a wildlife show, cup cake decorating, sushi making and free craft. To find out more call Auburn Council on 9735 1301.
I had the pleasure to attend the official opening of Easter Show on Thursday 1st April 2010. The Royal Easter Show is held at Sydney Olympic Park Show Ground and will run for two weeks. Tickets are available at your local post office.
Road Safety around Schools
I would like to encourage parents to walk to school with their children. If you do have to drive, please observe the road rules and slow down!
Safety of our school-children should be a top priority for parents. Young children in particular are often impulsive and don’t see danger. They are unable to judge the speed of vehicles and are easily distracted. I have two young children myself and I am already teaching them the road rules by walking with them as much as possible. When they are school ready I will be definitely be teaching them by example.
Double parking and parking across driveways in school zones is particular problem in the Auburn area making it much harder for drivers to see children. The 40km/h speed limit in school zones operates between 8-9.30am and 2.30-4pm on school days - be aware of the time or you could get fined.
