Local residents have the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes by getting creative and snapping some of their favourite spots in Fairfield City as part of a photography competition run by the Fairfield City Museum and Gallery.

Entries to the competition are now being accepted and entries will close on Friday 13 November at 5pm.

The Mayor of Fairfield City, Nick Lalich believes that the competition is a chance for local residents to showcase what they love most about their City.

“Your own neighbourhood always has those special places which hold memories such as growing up or spending time with family and friends,” says the Mayor. “The competition is a chance to capture these special places and share them with the community,”

“The photos can include pictures of your family, friends, local streets, community centres, parks, or even local businesses – anything that captures “our neighbourhood”. Prizes will be awarded to three entrants that have best captured the diversity, culture and environment of our City.”

“The photos will be on exhibition at locations around the City including Fairfield City Libraries and Fairfield Forum. They will also become part of the Library’s photograph collection so that the images can be remembered for years to come.

“Our community has so much passion for the culture and diversity we share in our City, so I’m sure there will be spectacular photos coming out of this competition,” says the Mayor.

To enter the competition, upload three images to the Competition’s Flickr page at http://flickr.com/groups/fairfieldphotoc... or send your photos to PO Box 2464, Smithfield and address them to Janise Derbyshire – Museum Curator. Entrants must create a Yahoo Account to be eligible to upload their photos to Flickr.

Three winners will be selected and prizes on offer will include an Olympus Digital Camera, a Photography workshop at Macarthur Community College and a voucher with a local photography shop.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday 18 November. People of all ages are invited to enter the competition. For more information please visit council’s website at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/our_neighbo...
