Police are searching for a motorcycle rider who left the scene after hitting two pedestrians in Sydney’s south-west overnight. About 6.50pm, police and ambulance paramedics were called to Augusta Street near the intersection of Belmore Road at Punchbowl after reports of a crash. Witnesses told police two Bankstown men, aged 33 and 28, were walking across Augusta Street towards a parked car on the eastern side when they were hit by an oncoming motorcycle that was travelling north. Shortly after, a silver sedan arrived containing a number of males. Two of those males got out of the car and assisted the motorcycle rider to re-start his bike before they all drove from the scene. The 33-year-old man hit by the motorcycle was taken to Liverpool Hospital with a compound fracture to his lower leg. He will undergo surgery later today. The other man suffered minor lacerations and has been released from Bankstown Hospital. Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation examined the scene last night and are attempting to identify the rider involved. Anyone with information on the collision or who knows the identity of the motorcycle rider should immediately contact the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
