Sydney Metro Airports Aviation Careers Expo Gets Bigger and Better in 2009
“We were very pleased with the student numbers, which were up on the previous years. The event attracted over almost 500 students who were accompanied by their careers advisors, parents and even grandparents. It was pleasing to see a bus load of students from the Central Coast region,” said Mr Mario Bayndrian, General Manager Aviation, Sydney Metro Airports Bankstown and Camden
“We had an exciting array of exhibitors from many noteworthy aviation industry companies and organisations, who all presented in a highly professional manner.
“Local company Aerospace Aviation added great style to their display by bringing in a new Citation jet into the hangar. Schofields Flying Club showcased their new Piper single engine which students were able to experience first hand in the cockpit.
“The most popular exhibiting aircraft was the Navy’s Seahawk helicopter. The helicopter and its crew made a dramatic entrance flying into the Airport at the start of the Expo. It was the first time the Airport has had a visit from a Navy Seahawk. Students were able to sit in the cockpit and speak with the crew about their work.
The exhibitors at this year’s event included: Basair Aviation College, Pacific Flight Services, Schofields Flying Club, Aerospace Aviation, Airborne Aviation, Australian Business Limited Apprenticeships Centre, Defence Recruiting, UNSW, Qantas Engineering & Padstow TAFE, Fast Track Pilot Training and the Royal Australian Navy.
