IMAGINE Festival @ Cleveland St 9-11 Oct - Call for Submissions
Imagine…You are standing in a large, bare black space with wooden boards below your feet and bright lights warming you... You can see the faces of the excited audience, perched on 140 peachy theatre seats… Everyone is here to participate - to be a part of new, emerging, spontaneous performance, in a space that’s calling out for creativity - with creatives (just like you) who are yearning for a chance to flex their artistic muscle…What do you do next? Just imagine…Cleveland Street Theatre invites creatives and community members to imagine the possibilities …for The IMAGINE Festival from the 9th-11th of October 2009 at 199 Cleveland Street, near Central Station, opposite Prince Alfred Park.
Companies or individual artists need to send in a very brief and simple APPLICATION by Friday AUGUST 21 – Download your Application Form at www.actt.edu.au/downloads
We are looking for one-off pieces (up to 10 minutes) including: _ Cabaret _ Comedy _ Short-Plays _ Music _ Dance and physical theatre _ New Media Art _ Performance poetry _ Children’s Theatre We’ll also consider longer pieces such as: _ Play-readings _ Film-script readings _ Work-in-progress showings _ Forums and discussions _ Visual and Photographic exhibitions _ …or something we would never have imagined!
Essentially The IMAGINE Festival is about providing space and marketing in order to let the audience/ performer alchemy ignite, create exposure and development for exciting talent and open up new networks and connections. Cleveland Street Theatre is also on the look-out for 2010 programming, so this is a good opportunity to show your stuff and dream-up future possibilities in this unique and diverse space.
The selected “dream-team” will be announced at an INDUSTRY DRINKS NIGHT on Tuesday 25th August at Cleveland Street Theatre from 6pm.
The event will consist of a number of free and ticketed events. Free events run as part of The IMAGINE Festival will be marketed in conjunction with the City of Sydney’s Art www.artandabout.com.au
