Event Description:
EXCAVATION: The Armory Exhibition 2012 is a unique, thought-provoking and FREE display of artworks that have stemmed from Artists at the Armory.

The theme of the exhibition – ‘excavation’ – was developed by curator Pedro de Almeida, who will present FREE Curator Talks from noon on Sunday 17 June and 5 August.

Spanning a variety of art-forms including painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, glass, photography, video and installation, EXCAVATION: The Armory Exhibition 2012 will occupy the entire 500 square metres of the extraordinary Armory Gallery, which boasts the largest continuous gallery wall in Australia (at 38 metres by 3.5 metres).

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite artwork in the People’s Choice Competition. One randomly selected voter will score a family pass to see the AFL’s GWS Giants play live at their home-ground from a fully-catered corporate suite.

The artists whose works will feature in the exhibition are: Osnat Almog, Alexis Apfelbaum, Sean Cordeiro & Claire Healy, Rose Daridis, Gary Deirmendjian, Paul du Moulin, Bonita Ely, Adam Galea, John Gillies, Szilvia György, Tevita Havea, Locust Jones, Akira Kamada, Heather Kepski, Simon Maberley, James McCallum, Deborah Redwood, Khaled Sabsabi, Dianne Turner and Sydney-based new media artist, Jessica Tyrrell.
