About StreetCorner
StreetCorner covers all things local; news, sports, and events.
But you might be surprised to know that the most trusted voice in the community is yours. Locals really do care about what’s going on in the community and they want to hear your news.
So if you have a story we don’t know about, log on to Streetcorner and you can be the reporter.
Politics, development, arts, environment, food, business, lifestyle or people, you can write the stories on issues that matter to you. Streetcorner isn’t just about serious news; it’s also about the stuff that makes communities tick. You can share stories on anything from poetry nights to working bees, local heroes to tree planting initiatives.
It’s easy to join, just register and then go to the Submit a Story Button, follow the prompts, and then your stories will appear on the home page.
We created Streetcorner to help you connect with other locals on the issues that matter to you. We believe that engaged local voices provide the foundation for a caring, sustainable and democratic communities.
Shopping locally is good for the environment and builds strong healthy communities. Streetcorner supports local business by letting you know about great tradespeople, restaurants and shops in your area.
Local business and community groups can list in the free directory and everyone can submit reviews. By letting others know where to find the best (or worst) service in the suburb, you’ll help great businesses thrive and assist the not-so-flash, to lift their game. There is also a free classifieds section so you can trade goods locally or advertise your services at no cost.
Streetcorner’s Events Calendar is open to everyone, so let the locals know about your school fete, precinct meetings, theatre productions, talks or community events by listing in the calendar.
If you just want to comment on Streetcorner articles, you don’t have to register. But if you’d like to be part of the news making process or list your organisation in the Directory, you need to register. When you register we’ll send you an email confirming your email address and then you are set to go. We keep your email address private and don’t share with anyone.
We have two types of registrations on Streetcorner, Community Member and Business Member. Essentially the Community Member allows you to do everything on the site, except post a free Business Listing. Business Members can also take advantage of our free business directory. You are welcome to become a member of both groups if you wish.
By listing your business in the free directory you can make direct contact with local consumers, make it easier for people to find you and add customer reviews to your profile.
Streetcorner also regularly profiles local businesses. If you’d like your business to be considered for a feature profile, send us a brief description of your business to info@streetcorner.com.au, with three reasons locals love your business.
Streetcorner supports charities by promoting their work and events locally and helping in the search for volunteers. All charities are welcome to contact us if they would like help “spreading the word”. We would be privileged to help in whatever way we can.
There are currently five Streetcorner’s Western Sydney, Eastern Suburbs, North West Sydney, South West Sydney and Sydney City.
If you’d like a Streetcorner in your area, drop us a line at info@streetcorner.com.au . We are also looking for advocates for new areas, so if you are a passionate local, we’d love to hear from you.
Our site is far from perfect. We have a long list of ideas about how to improve it but your thoughts are the most valuable and we’d really appreciate your feedback.
