I forgot my password. What do I do?
If you attempt to log in, you will see a "Forgot Your Password?" link. Follow the instructions there to recover your password. You’ll be asked to enter the email address you registered with. Your password will then be sent to your email address if we have a record of it.
Can I change my registration and personal information, or my password?
Yes. You can change anything in your personal profile (except your member name) by going to My Account.
Why do I have to register for the site?
StreetCorner is a friendly, cooperative community of current and former local residents (although site registration is open to all). To encourage that, we validate e-mail addresses and ask for some other information. That helps everyone feel good about sharing information and comments with their neighbours on Streetcorner.com.au.
How do I get credit for content or photos I add to the site?
Credit is automatically given when you post something to StreetCorner- because you must be registered to post or comment, your member name is attached to everything you submit to the site.
Can I submit a regular column-weekly or monthly?
Absolutely! If you'd like to regularly share your thoughts with your neighbours, feel free to establish a regular spot in one of our sections.

Add it to the site! Write and post a short article, add it to The StreetCorner or add it to the Event Calendar. StreetCorner is your local bulletin board for sharing community information.
How do I submit content to StreetCorner?
Submitting content to StreetCorner is as easy as clicking a button on the site and filling in a form. You can add information as a new post, which others can comment on, or you can add your comments to what other people have posted.
I'm not a "writer." What's the best way to tell my story in a StreetCorner post?
Keep it clear and simple, and get to the point. Imagine that you were telling the story to a friend, and write it that way. Think about things that you'd want to know about that topic, and include them in your post. Tell the truth. Answering basic questions like Who? What? Where? When? Why? and How? also may help you organize your thoughts.
Does anyone edit or approve content before it appears on the site?
No. All content is "live" as soon as a member publishes it to the site. Certain words are not permitted and will be rejected automatically. If you see something on the site you think is abusive or inappropriate, click the Report Abuse link that appears on each post or comment.
Can I post personal information on the site?
Please don't- your own or anyone else's. StreetCorner is available for anyone on the internet to read, so please keep personal details out of your posts and comments unless you want to share them with others. And respect the rights and privacy of other people- especially children- by not including any of their personal information in your contributions to the site.
Can I submit a press release to the site?
Yes, but use your judgment- it may be better to post a less formal description of what you want to promote, or to list it in the events calendar. Outright promotions may not go over well with the general community, and the comments that members add to your post may reflect that!
Who decides what goes on the home page?
Streetcorner.com.au's local staff picks the day's most interesting posts, comments, photos and other highlights to feature on the home page, providing a snapshot of the best content on the site at any given moment. The content is provided by both the community and the StreetCorner journalist staff.
Can I include a link to another site in a post or comment?
Yes. There are instructions on the content submission pages about how to include a URL or e-mail address in a post, comment, caption, Community Guide item or event link, as well as guidelines on the contents of those links. URLs are not permitted in classified ads, however.
Can I submit photos to StreetCorner?
Absolutely! Photos may be attached to posts or added to our photo galleries- just follow the instructions there to do so. Don't worry about the size of the photos- StreetCorner takes care of that behind the scenes. Please don't post digitally altered photos.
Can I submit videos to StreetCorner?
Yes, but your videos must first be uploaded to YouTube. You will need to become a member of YouTube first, upload the video using your login information to YouTube and then post the unique video URL on the site in the ‘Photos & Video Gallery' section.

You may choose a member name to appear on your posts and comments on Streetcorner.com.au. While we prefer that you post information using your real name, you don't have to.
What do you do with my registration information?
The only thing that appears publicly on the site is your member name. Other information is used to confirm your registration. You will receive a confirmation message at your e-mail address with instructions on activating your membership. You may also subscribe to e-mails from StreetCorner, if you choose. All other information is kept private, as described in our Privacy Policy.
How do I know that anyone posting information on Streetcorner.com.au actually is a member of my community?
Frankly, you can't. While we strongly suggest that StreetCorner members come from the local community and do what we can to confirm membership, StreetCorner is open to anyone on the internet. However, we believe that the vast majority of interest and members will come from current and former residents of the local community.
I know about a local web site or blog that's not in your Local Web Directory. How can I add it?
Click the link in the Local Blogs & Sites asks if you want to suggest additional sites. That will generate an e-mail form that you can use to let us know about a site. We'll review your suggestion and add the site if we think it is appropriate.
Who owns the information I post on the site?
You do. However, by adding posts, comments, photos or other material to Streetcorner.com.au, you agree to give us an unlimited license to reproduce the material on our site and in marketing materials, as described in our Terms of Use.
I've got a sporting club/ music club but we're not for profit and I need an online presence. Can StreetCorner help me?
It sure can. Simply register as a StreetCorner member, and go to the ‘Post' page and post a group or organisation. You can then distribute the unique club URL to friends, newsletters, so people can find out more about your group or club, whether it's a craft group, charity organisation or scouts club.
I have some old stuff I want to sell. Can I list it on StreetCorner.com.au? Will it cost me any money?
If you are registered as a community member, listing a classified is free unless you want to add an image or purchase a priority listing. If you are a business member, classifieds listings will cost $50 per month.
I have an upcoming event I want the community to know about. What do I do?
All you have to do is click Add Event and fill out the form. The event will be placed on the StreetCorner Calendar. The StreetCorner Calendar covers an entire year, so you have plenty of lead time to submit an event. You'll also be able to check if other events are planned for the same date.
Can I get StreetCorner information and updates e-mailed to me?
Yes, e-mail newsletters will be available to let you see highlights of StreetCorner's community information or to provide you with updates on the progress of the StreetCorner community. You can sign up for them on the home page, as part of your registration process or on the My Account page.
Some members of my family live out of town, but they're interested in what goes on here. Can they use StreetCorner even though they don't live here?
Absolutely! StreetCorner is a terrific resource for keeping up with hometown news when you're far from home.
How much does StreetCorner cost to use?
StreetCorner is free to anyone to read, and registration is free. Classifieds and basic Business Listings are free, as well. There are fees for premium Classifieds and Business listings, sponsored business listings, a classified by a business member and display ads.
What do I do if my material isn't posted?
Almost all content is posted automatically onto the site. If two people attempt to edit a Community Guide item at the same time, one might not appear. If you have any problems posting content, please contact Customer Service contactus@streetcorner.com.au.
What if I see something offensive on the site?
StreetCorner has put some protections into place to screen posts and comments for offensive or obscene language; otherwise, policing of content on the site is up to the community. If you see something that is offensive, inappropriate or abusive on the site, please click the Report Misconduct link that appears on each post or comment. We will review the content to see if it adheres to our rules and guidelines.
I want to add a business listing – how do I do it?
You will need to register as a Business member first. Add in the details of your business and enter all mandatory information as requested, and your business listing will automatically go into the directory.
With my business listing, how do I ensure people will notice my business on StreetCorner?
You can increase your popularity by getting all your customers to write reviews on your business. Your rating (out of 5 stars) and the amount of reviews you have will help your ranking when users search on ‘popularity’.
I want to add a classified and I am a community member. How do I do it?
Ensure you are registered as a community member on StreetCorner, login and follow the prompts to post a classified. Classifieds listings are up for 1 month and can be renewed manually.
I want to add a classified and I am a business member. How do I it?
As a business member, you will need to pay a fee of $28 per month to add a classifieds listing on behalf of your business. Make sure you are logged in, and follow the prompts to add your listing.
